Living Hardscapes completed a standalone commercial retaining wall package for Baptist World Center Town Homes in Nashville, Tennessee. This wall helped create additional usable space for townhouse development while supporting code-compliant drive and parking requirements on a constrained site.

This project required a retaining wall solution that would help maximize usable site space for townhouse construction. The development needed additional room to fit the townhomes on the lot while maintaining code-compliant drive lanes and parking.
Living Hardscapes supplied and installed a Redi-Rock gravity wall system using XL Base Block to meet the structural and layout needs of the site while delivering a clean finished appearance.
One of the biggest challenges on this project was access. Most of the wall product had to be delivered, unloaded, and installed within approximately 10 feet of a high-traffic street. That left very little staging room and required careful coordination between deliveries, equipment movement, and installation.
Because the wall was also important to the overall site layout, installation had to stay efficient and controlled so the development could continue moving forward.
Living Hardscapes provided the retaining wall scope for this project, including:
Excavation and a portion of the retained backfill were completed by another contractor.
To complete the work in a narrow operating area, our team coordinated material deliveries closely with installation production. This reduced double handling and allowed the wall units to be unloaded and set efficiently.
We also used equipment with a tight operating radius to work effectively in the limited space between the wall line and the street. Minor traffic control measures were used when needed to maintain safe operations and keep installation moving.
The completed retaining wall helped create the additional usable space needed to support the townhouse layout, drive access, and parking requirements. It also provided a durable and visually appealing wall system that supported the site’s overall development goals.
Although Redi-Rock is a wet-cast block product, the finished wall achieved a clean natural stone appearance that added visual value to the project.
